Title 30 of the Code of Federal Regulations requires that coal refuse piles and water impounding structures be maintained and inspected on a regular basis and those that maintain and inspect them be qualified by MSHA.
The initial qualification for inspecting impounding structures is to attend an initial 8-hour approved training session, then you must be tested by an MSHA Educational Field Representative. You must then attend an approved 4-hour refresher training session in the same month each year to keep that certification current.
Classes can be set up at your location or you can join in on a class that is being conducted for another company.
VIRTUAL ON-LINE CLASSES ARE NOW OFFERED
